CHAIR

STEP 1

For this mid-century fabric chair with wooden legs, pick out a color for the chair that makes you happy. I love this blue color. Also, choose a brown color for the legs of the chair.

Draw the base of the fabric part of the chair by using hard pressure with your chosen color to create a boxy “U” shape with parallel lines leading off of them. See how the tops of the arms of the chair and the bottom of the right arm of the chair are all parallel to one another?

STEP 2

On a piece of scrap paper, test out some different fabric textures. I experimented with zigzag lines, crosshatching, and single-hatching. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the single-hatch markings, so I chose to fill in my chair with those.
